Design a conservation poster

Let's go fishing!
Amateur Fishing Regulations

Activity
A 1991 National Research Bureau survey found that just over half the public were aware there are certain limits on the number of fish a recreational fisher may catch in a day. Most of the remainder were unsure (31 percent), while just under one in five believed there are no limits.

Demographic groups most aware of the existence of limits were:
Males
Those aged 30 and over
Europeans
South Islanders
Those who have fished in the last 12 months
Those in the highest household income bracket

Discuss these findings with the class and then design a poster to get across the message people need to conserve fish and obey the amateur fishing regulations. (These regulations control fishing limits, fish size and types of fishing gear. There are also closed areas and closed seasons for some species.)

Before you start think about:
Your audience, eg, are you aiming your poster at other young people, a particular cultural group or the general public; and
The message you want to convey.
